Hello, my name is Wessam Kamaleddine. I am 26 years old and was born and raised in Canada. My first trip to Ain Zhalta was in 1988 when I was 8 years old. I spent 9 months there and its the greatest town in all of Lebanon. I hope to return there soon. Thank you and Great Website. I found the site fabulous, not only by design but by contents.. It captured my spirit and values dear to home.. I felt surrounded with warmth and comfort and made me feel that the older I get the more I appreciate the beauty of Ain Zhalta. How disappointed I was as I started reading some of the facts and Details about the civil war. I Found a lot of inaccuracies accounts about the Druze Actions. It was a Reaction to the events that were initiated on them that triggered the reactions that they had. Not to defend those reactions however, I felt it was important for the sake of the future generations of Lebanese at large to understand that the Civil was devastating to all parties. My name is Khalil Haddad from Barouk, Ain-Zhalta's neighbours. I have childhood memories in Ain-Zhalta where we used to spend our summers as we have many relatives (Chakkour, Moghabghab and Haddad families). But I would like to draw your attention that the Chakkour family is not listed in the Ain-Zhalta's families section. --- Khalil Haddad George Khouri who emigrated to Seattle in 1906 was my grandfather. I grew up in Seattle and now live in Pennsylvania. I made a book for my family last Christmas about all of our ancestors and in researching my grandfather's story, I found this website!
